STEPPING OUT ON FAITH:
THE DIVINE DZION STORY

When Alvin Parks decided to quit his “safe” 9 to 5 job in management to pursue his dream of building a worldwide company, some family and friends thought he was nuts.  But his wife, Marcia, also a Manager in Corporate America, stood by his decision and took on back room support as well as her demanding day job.

Today, Divine Dzion controls the design, manufacturing, and distribution of the only Black-owned hosiery company in the world.  Top quality women’s pantyhose specially designed for women of all colors and shapes is their current product. The Lost of Black Population in Major Cities Has Reached a Critical Point

There is a stealth development taking place in major cities throughout the country – the dramatic decline in Black population. According to the most recent Census Bureau figures, cities with once sizable or even majority Black populations are now becoming more and more non-Black. This development has tremendous potential consequences, especially in the area of Black political empowerment but it is receiving amazing little public notice.

A few examples will suffice to demonstrate the severity of the problem. In 1957, Washington, D.C. became the first major American city to achieve majority Black status. By 1970, African Americans accounted for better than 70 percent of the population of the nation’s capital.  But according to Census data addressing population shifts through 2006, Washington, D.C. is now just 57 percent Black and demographers are projecting it will lose its majority Black status within 10 years.  READ MORE

LET'S HOLD OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS ACCOUNTABLE

There is something very wrong going on with some black politicians.  They think that we exist to support them, rather than that they are elected to support us.  It's time that we pay attention and hold them accountable.  Why are our schools in such disarray?  Didn't some black politicians tell us to vote for the lotteries & casinos?  Didn't they say that it would be truckloads of Benjamins dumped on the school districts?  Maybe I misunderstood.

Don't we always hear at election time about what's going to be done to for black businesses and how more jobs are on the way?  Maybe I misunderstood that too.
