VOTE!

It’s  time to stop hand-wringing about the state of affairs within our government and begin to exert our constitutional right to vote.  This is what we can do and  We Care Worldwide Inc. is volunteering its services to assist in this historic event.

Here are some steps that we strongly encourage you take immediately.

REGISTER

REGISTER to vote if you have not already done so.  If your address has changed since the last time you registered, complete the address change section.

If you need to register or change your address, pick up a Voter Registration Form from your local voter registration office, or call us at 314 414 2900 if you don’t know where to go to get one.

Submit your completed form to the voter registration team, or mail it in.

Generally, your completed form has to be received 30 days before voting day. Find out the specifics for you state from your state’s secretary of state’s office.  You can find it by Googling “secretary of state office (your state).  The index will have a “Voter Education”  or “2008 Elections” category.

ABSENTEE VOTING

Many people have jobs that will prevent them from going to the polls on November 4.  If you fall into this category, please – you must still vote.  Here is how you can still vote.

Request an absentee ballot now.

There are a couple of website where you can get help.

http://www.fvap.gov/   Federal Voting Assistance Program

You can also get information online from your state’s secretary of state’s office - the same place you go for other voter education information.  You can find it by Googling “secretary of state office (your state).  The index will have a “Voter Education”  or “2008 Elections” category.  Start here.

For instance, when you Google Missouri, you will end up at http://www.sos.mo.gov/ ,    the Office of the Secretary of State.  When you select “2008 Election” and enter, you will be taken to a page that contains a lot of relevant information including an index that lists “For Voters” in the index on the left panel of the page.  Select this by clicking on it and you will be taken to a page that provides specific, easy-to-follow instructions on how to vote with an absentee ballot.  The link here is  http://www.sos.mo.gov/elections/s_default.asp?id=absentee .

You can get the same information for other states by following the above process.

KNOW YOUR VOTING RIGHTS

Many people may have been denied voting rights in the past due to incarceration or parole status.  However, if you are no longer incarcerated, are not on parole or probation following conviction for a felony, have not been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor connected to voting, and have not been declared incapacitated, you are probably eligible to vote provided you are of legal age and a U.S. citizen and resident of the state where you live.     You can get the specific information that applies to your state by selecting “voter education” or “voter qualifications” from the website cited above.

VOTE!  It is your  obligation as a U.S. citizen.

Who is ahead in the Electoral College, where president are elected?
